About WAG Animal Rescue

WAG Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit (501c3), domestic companion animal rescue organization dedicated to placing homeless dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens in permanent, loving, responsible homes.

We have been helping animals throughout Michigan and Ohio since 1988. WAG accepts animals from shelters and owner surrenders into our adoption program.

How We Operate

Because we do not have a shelter facility, WAG is dependent on select foster care providers to accommodate the needs of homeless animals until permanent placement is found. These very special volunteers are responsible for providing love and attention, as well as transporting the animals in their care to veterinary appointments and adopt-a-pet events. WAG pays for all necessary veterinary care, working directly with several local veterinary clinics. WAG is always in need of additional responsible foster care providers.

Surrendering Your Pet

Wag Animal Rescue is committed to the animals we rescue and to those animals who are not a part of our program.  We realize that sometimes issues or circumstances may arise when individuals and/or families are no longer able to keep their pet.   If we do not have a foster home available to take in your pet,  WAG will gladly assist you in finding a new home for your pet by placing a courtesy post on our Petfinder website. Wag’s Petfinder website is a great way to advertise your pet to potential adopters. Petfinder is the most popular site on the internet for adopters looking for an animal.  We post all our animals on Petfinder and adopters often mention that is where they find us. Please note that we will only provide a place to post a profile of your animal, you will need continue to provide shelter and care while you try to match the animal with a new, permanent home.   You will also be responsible for responding to inquiries regarding your pet and the actual rehoming. WAG is not responsible for your animal during this time.
